Keeping it Simple

Anyone think life seems nice and simple these days? Hats off to you if you do – I think for most of us there is an awful lot tugging at our attention like a dozen toddlers who’ve spotted we have candy in our hands.
There’s the overwhelm of horrific world events, ongoing fallout from the pandemic and seemingly just the general WTF-ery of current life.
I was reminded of this when circumstances meant I had to re-prioritize this last month. My grand plans had to be slashed back to what I really REALLY needed to happen. I am a long term lover of the to-do list (and have used almost every digital and paper planner in existence) …. but when it comes down to it most people (myself included) need to focus on a very few important things in order to make real progress.
In some ways it’s reassuring – especially if you are running your own marketing and feeling totally overwhelmed. The fact is that it’s easy to get excited about having an ambitious marketing plan with multiple social media channels, frequent communications, events …. the list goes on.
But the fact is that there are some things which are going to have a bigger impact than others. A way bigger impact. Choosing to focus your marketing activities on a few well-chosen, well-executed activities will reap the rewards and prevent you from spreading yourself too thin.
By all means brainstorm away at what else you want to do – but then rank these in strict priority order – because running at all of it at once is not going to work.
Simplify. Plan. Start small if you have to.
Today’s question/voluntary activity … what are your three priorities for marketing your business for the next 6 months?
Rank them in order of importance.
Go work on the first one….
