There has been no lack of headlines around social media since the start of this year. Bans. restatements, stories, rumors and a general fragmentation.
So what’s a small business to do?
First, take a breath.
For most small businesses, social media is not the only way to reach customers – it certainly shouldn’t be.
It can be a great tool for some businesses.
Rarely, there is a small business who does not benefit from a social media presence – especially if their community exists more strongly outside of it. In which case, maybe it is not a priority.
The point is that it is a tool, it’s always been a channel of communication that you select and use as it make sense for your business.
The job of a skilled marketer has always been to select the communication channels that make best sense for a business.
The ones that brings results.
The ones that prioritizes effort and time spent so that you can generate results.
So before you panic, ask yourself this:
Where are my people?
Are they still on social media?
Do I have access to them elsewhere? Through email, through events, through anything else.
Can I offer different ways to keep in touch, but still keep a prioritized marketing to do list (this can be challenging)?
Need help setting those priorities? I can help – just drop me a line and let’s chat.
